Day of Surgery

The day we’d thought about for months was finally here. Everything we knew about our sweet boy was about to change—and this change will open the door to so many possibilities for him. The opportunities ahead feel endless.

We arrived at the hospital at 6 a.m., and from then until 8 a.m. they completed his intake. He wasn’t too happy about it—he was exhausted and hungry—but with lots of toys and push-car rides, we made it through to the moment he was taken to the OR.

His surgery began at 9 a.m., and throughout the long hours we received steady updates. Finally, around 2 p.m., it was complete. After that, they needed about an hour to do his casting, the first step in this new chapter of healing.
