First Steps

Saturday (3/14) was the first time Callan took steps with his legs on. The following day he took a few more, and today at PT he was able to walk a few steps again completely by himself while holding onto the bars. It was incredible. I had goosebumps and tears. I don’t think I’ll ever get over the feeling of seeing him standing and taking steps—it’s something we’ve thought about since before he was even born.

He’s so determined. You can see him constantly trying to figure things out. Today he even pulled to stand for the first time ever! In just a week his PT was shocked at how well he’s been doing.

As a mom it’s so hard to watch him get frustrated and struggle without rushing in to help, but I’m slowly learning that most of the time he figures it out on his own. His left leg has always had more challenges than the right, so we’re learning new ways to help him—not just with walking, but with crawling and sitting too.

Every day we learn something new. It already feels like it’s been quite the journey, and we’re just getting started. 💪🏼🦿
